I see on the weather forcast,Saturday is supposed to have 12mph East/Northeast winds. Now I know that a north wind will lay the water flat, but what about the easterly flow? Will too much of an easterly influence cause it to sand up the surf?

Or is that just a westerly wind that sands it up?

I want to fish the surf Sat. night under the lights on the pier. Just trying to figure out how the water maybe at that time.

Thanks for all help.

As a former Galvestion area surfer I know that a strong NE and E build the surf quite well and as you go down the coast the E / NE has even more of an influence. If it is blowing hard expect strong sideshore currents as well.
OK.....so I can expect sandy conditions with an east/northeast wind. I thought a westerly wind was the bad one to have. But I wasn't sure. So thanks for clarifying for me CC.

That being said - it depends on how strong of a breeze we've got going. I may still look to fish the surf this weekend not if it's 15-20 ENE but maybe if it 10 knots NNE. NE is still preffered to SE for surf fishing - at least those are my thoughts on it. Anybody else have an opinion on this?
