I have a round concrete trough that is about 6' across and 2' deep with several large goldfish and a some perch in it. I'm pretty sure they'll survive this coldsnap but can someone tell me if I need to do something extra. I don't have and won't buy a floating heater for this trough either. Thanks.

even a coleman lantern will help. Unless they are KOI, which can handle ice and freeing temps. Most other fish here cannot take it

Ok, I did nothing and this morning there was an inch or so of ice and I could see the big goldfish swimming slowly around the bottom. There was one fan tailed fish stuck in the ice near the surface and he was not moving. This afternoon I tapped on the ice where he was and he wiggled a bit and swam down to the bottom. I guess they will be fine after all.
