Transportation Workers Id Card

I guess I live in a hole, hinden from life, but I got my first notice I needed one yesterday! I had heard a rumor we were going to need something, but never heard/seen anything else about it. I got the notice yesterday and the deadline date is today, but the reason for the notice is they have extended the the date to April 2009.

If you have a USCG issued license you need one! They will not renew your license if you don't have it.

Better get with it if you have not done it...$132.50 for a piece of krap card...oh well, can't/not have it!

From the time I applied to the time I picked up my card it was only 11 days. Not too bad, plus my company paid for it. I would recommend taking care of it ASAP to avoid the last minute rush. Captains are not the only ones needing them. There are a LOT of plant workers who are required to have one.

Yep got mine too. When to the Houston center and was surprised on the turn around ...about 2 weeks. The tuffest part was getting it activated it took 2 trips to the center to get it done.

went up there with a hang over so the picture would look normal:slimer:

It took me 12 weeks to get one. Went to the Port of Houston location.

On a side note, the TWIC location at 6000 Broadway in Galveston will not be reopening due to 5' of water in the building during Ike.

I have had mine for a while. As a peace officer I do a lot of work in the ports and refineries. I am also USCG licensed to 100 tons. I guess having a badge doesn't count either. I can't wait till a security guard asks me for it!

I got mine for work. I heard that if you dont have one or cant get one that you will not be allowed to work in the plants unescorted. There are some mexicans where I work that will be out of jobs. Maybe we can make some more money.

The first person to ask you for it will most likely be the USCG at renewal time, they will not renew your Merchant Marine License without one.

I can see folks who work in a plant or factory needing some kind of universal ID system, but someone operating a fishing operation? I hoped I wouldn't need one, but I called yesterday and they told me it didn't matter where I fished out of (not much going on in Sargent security wise) I would need one to renew my license.
