I had it done in March by Dr. Mann.He is one of the pioneers in that field.I was almost legally blind and now have 20/15 and 20/20 vision!I don't regret it one bit!The only thing is that I have the "starburst" vision at nite.I heard that sometimes it will eventually go away. The surgery was right at $4,000 !I did not shop around because I was not worried about saving money when it came to my eyes.Dr. Mann has done alot of the local sports athletes around Houston.Look them up on Google ( Mann Eye Center ) I say go for it!You'll love it !

yup

Had mine done in 2001 by Dr. Wade at Eye Center of Texas. Bets money I ever spent. It changed my life for sure. Here I am 6 years later and still 20/15 in both eyes. And this from a guy who had some coke bottles before that. Only issues I have had is a more sensitivity to dryness, I now keep drops with me all the time. Doesnt happen often but when it does and isnt taken care of its a headache for the ages. Other thing is when I get really tired my right eye gets blood shot bad. Never had problems with either before but do now. They arent major problems and dont happen often enough to give me any regrets. Id do it again in a heartbeat if need be. Good luck, and afterwards treat yourself to a new pair of NICE sunglasses. Thats what I did. lol

If you can wait do it next January and use your Flex Spending Account. Thats what I did and it saved me some money on the back end.

I had it done about 10 yrs ago. Dr Wade at eye center of Texas. They used to run a special a couple of time a a year, 750.00 an eye. Truly amazing surgery my glasses were about 1/4 inch thick, laid down on the table put my glasses in my pocket and about 15 minutes later walked to the recovery room and could see and read the posters on the 30to 40 feet away. I about drove my wife crazy on the ride jome reading all of the street signs for the first time without glassed or contacts. I also have the star burst around lights at night but I astigmatism before so its not much worsethan what I was used to. Worse thing is that I'm sesitive to bright lights in my face at night. I would do it again in heart beat.

best thing i have ever done, i had mine done back in 2000 at the TLC center in oklahoma city, that guy has done tiger woods, drew carry, he is one of the best, and i can go to any TLC center and get my eyes looked at, it has a lifetime gurantee, if they ever need fixin it is free. i have a problem with lights at night, but the technology has advanced that they said they can go in and fix it. its just not bad enuf to go back in. they even have a blade free procedure now that the air force has ok'd for pilots. they used to haft to have perfect 20-20 no glases to be accepted but not they can get the blade free eye corection

Yep... Do It

best thing I ever done... I had mine down about 8 years ago by Dr. Mann too... My vision is still 20/15.

My wife is having hers done by Dr. Berkley, Mann's former colleague in The Woodlands on the 26th of this month I finally talked her into it. It's going to be $2195 per eye but let me tell you it's worth every penny you spend.

Like someone above said when it comes to your eyes do not look for the cheapest.

I highly recommend it.

GOOD LUCK

Jode

They also offer credit facilities if you need it 18 months same as cash.

I had mine done exactly one yr. ago next week, Dr. Micheal Caplin did mine at the Berkley Eye center off Weslayan, great investment so far, I have 4 relatives that have had it done, everybody loves it, thinking about getting it done again just for the Valiums, just joking!

I had it done by Dr. Dell here in Austin and yes it is his brother, they look very much alike. The best thing about lasik is the first time you go swimming in a pool and when you come up from under water you can actually see all the ladies in bikinis. :p

I dont have the halo effect at night and I would definetly recommend some nice POLARIZED sunglasses afterwards.

Good luck,
J

I had it done 5 years ago when I was 19 by Dr. Levacy in Beaumont. He did it for $1k an eye and it was the best $2k I've ever spent. Life is so much more enjoyable now. If I put a pen and paper to it I'm sure the savings alone have paid for the surgery in only 5 years.

I had mine done 4 years ago by the Lasik vision institute in the Galleria area. My vision is 20/15 and I think it was the best $2,000 I ever spent. Prices have really dropped due to the competition. Dr. January was the doctor.
Ditto, same place and doctor. $750 per eye and had one eye done. I went the mono vision thing done and love it. Not too for away from getting other eye done though as am losing my close vision more and more.

I had surgery about 6 years ago by Dr. Lipsky and have never regretted it. I probably now need some reading glasses, but they tell you up front it is not a cure for "old age eyes".

A friend recently had surgery by Dr. Lipsky, he was close to blind, and had been told in previous years he was not a candidate. His surgery was successful. I think it is about $4k, however they offer some type of no interest credit card for a 1 year pay-off.

Old Age

Dr. Michael Mann did mine in 2000 when he was at the Berkley Eye Clinic. He has since moved back to his own clinic in Humble. I am 54 years old and wore glasses for over 40 years for near sight and now I can see like an eagle out far but I still have to wear reading glasses to read up close. They tell me every year at my check up its old age.

Were any of you guys farsighted or were al of you neasighted. From what I understand they can supposedly fix farsightedness as well. As luck would have it I'm farsighted and want to have it fixed bad.
I was nearsighted and got corrected to 20/13! The doc had to walk halfway down to the chart to see the symbols I was reading on the last line!

Like slip knot said, there is a lasik/lasek method called mono vision. It corrects one eye for distance and one eye for close up (reading). My Doc told me that your brain adjusts quickly and you should have no need for any type of vision correction lenses in the future.

I wanted to see like a hawk, so I went with LASEK.
