Does anyone know when they are letting people on the island that are not property ownwers. I wan't to go to the west end to work.

You need to find a group like Texas Baptist Men and sign up to be a volunteer, You can go to University Baptist church and head out from there with a group of other volunteers

You can get on the island but not sure about the west end. I have been on the island three times in the last week and do not own property but I was only going to the Port and Payco

Paper said the beaches were open, I took that to mean the general public could come back. I haven't been down in almost 2 weeks, not sure what restrictions/checkpoints--if any--remain.

Zero check points a the causeway. I dont know what happens west of the airport.

I read yesterday on khou.com that they were letting anyone on the island now.

I was there Thursday, Friday, and Saturday helping my cousin clean up his in-laws. We got flagged down one time at a check point and all the LEO did was ask where we were going. Told him and he said OK. That was it. We stayed Thursday night at his house with no electricity and then Friday night we had A/C, TV and our own hot food from the stove. I went because wanted to help, it gives you a different respect for what nature can do when you actually see the stuff first hand. His in-laws had about 4 ft of water in the house and pretty much everything from 4 ft down went on the curb. Its alot of work but im glad i was able to help.
