Hey all,

I'm getting my gear ready to do a bit of fishing and I'd like to add a new spinner to my stable. I used to stick with SHIMANO exclusively, but I would try any of them now. Doesn't really matter that much to me these days.

As for size, I prefer the 2500 size in the SHIMANO, if you're familiar with that size spinning reel. I have a couple of the 4000 series and they're nice, but a tad too big.

I'm going to be using them for bass.

I looked at the Spirex and it seems nice, but I can't stand that twin paddle handle. Can a standard handle be substituted for that double that comes on it? If I took one off of one of my other Shimano spinning reels would it fit that Spirex if it was the same size i.e. 2500 or 4000?

I like the fluegers at academy. I think they are 45 or 50. Havent given any problems yet.

I second the Pflueger reels. The President model seems to be worth the ~$50 I spent on it.

Mitchell 308 Combo Series is what I purchase from Academy a couple of weeks ago, was $49. I love it!

I use a bunch of these---different models-different spool sizes. I like that you turn handle backward and it stops always where the bail open lever is centered where it is supposed to be. Most of mine are loaded up with braid to avoid line twist. Havent torn one up yet.

I have used Daiwa Sweepfire's for years. Bought like 5 on clearence for 9$ each and have used them in saltwater for 5 years with zero issues. Check amazon for good deals on them.

My favorite spinning reel is a Lew's Speed Spin, you can only find them on the combos with rod, they are about $70 for the combo.
