I have a 22' cc with a deep V for offshore. It has a 200hp Johnson, single engine. I'd like to get a kicker, just in case anything happens offshore. What size kicker would be appropriate for this boat? Thanks in advance.
mako..we've got a 9 horse kicker on a deep V about your size..Works fine in the bays but don't know about trying to get in from offshore with it. About 5-7 knots is all she's good for. Got that size because it was small enough (light enough) to keep stowed and still be able to mount it in a little pitching water. Still a pretty good handful in 3-4's .
Less than an 8hp and the wind and current are going to give you trouble. If you can get a high thrust model you'll be even better off.
