I don't know the answer to this question but there's a few apps out there, I use on x, that let's you search properties and land and tells you if it's private or public and who it's owned by.

the water directly behind the drum hole is legal to hunt, just be sure you have a shallow running boat. a lot of times especially this late in the season it is airboat only, unless you don't mind tearing your stuff up. LOL,

their are a number of people who hunt back there, so just be mindful of where they are set up.

 

There's quite a lot of private land in that area. Better check before going in to avoid problems. Capt. Beabout is right about the Drum Hole side. Gets mighty shallow in there.

 

Yes, you can hunt Welder Flats, but be sure you know where the WMA begins and ends. And don't run in to anyplace your boat can't get up on plane to get out. You'll have plenty of opportunity to get stuck.

Entire west side of drum hole is private property but anywhere else you should be good.

 

And don't walk into any potholes or marsh ponds, you have to be inside the mean high tide line of the bay generally speaking. there are some bayous and marsh creeks that are also too narrow that begin to be private as well.

The area I was looking at is on the NE side, it doesn't appear to be part of the WMA.

 

Watch for No Trespassing signs on the shorelines and purple posts at the mouths of the sloughs. Some knuckleheads have been removing signs, evidently planning to plead innocence if apprehended - so like I said earlier you might want to check before you go. I live nearby on Lane Road and have hunted and fished all that country for many years. We never had problems with trespass and landowner calling the law until the current generation of so-called guides abused a good thing. Caution advised!
