My friend and I are planning to start a side business and want to design a web page that will show the merchandise for sale. How do I get a domain name? I got an e-mail from Yahoo yesterday and it says I can get my own domain name for $1.99 for the first year. Any other suggestions on how to do this?

Once I get a domain name, can I buy some kind of software that is EASY to use to set up the website? Right now, we pretty much want to put pics of our items we have for sell along with some information about each item and then list our storefront address. I would like for people to be able to click on what they want and sent to a "check-out" where it will give them the amount of their purchase and a form to fill out for shipping information. Maybe we should take payments though PayPal. I don't know.

Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated since I have NO clue as to how to go about this. Would it be easier to hire someone to build the page for us? How much do people normally charge?

Thanks.

Well, thats about 10 years of questions LOL....no real simple answer. You could go easy and get Yahoo to host your site.

They do have a easy step by step "template" to follow.

Depending on who you got to build it for you, could be cheap or very costly. I know some that get crazy prices. The only reason I would think to have someone build it is because you want a store front with checkout/paypale/credit cards ect. That can be tricky. If you try it, look into the google checkout http://www.marketworks.com/nextgen/en/help/WebHelp/Google_Checkout__Overview.htm

Remember, you get what you pay for....cheap sites = cheap service
I don't want to get into any names but you see them on tv ad's.
