I am in serious need of replacing my raw water washdown pump. Its spits water like an old man with a prostate problem.

How about some advise on models or systems to use that have the maximum pressure and volume.

If you go with a Jabsco, which are pretty common, save yourself some time and go ahead and tear it down before installing to waterproof it with silicone. Especially the threaded holes in the bottom of the motor cavity where the long screws go. For some reason, the ding bats who designed the thing and put it together don't do this for you and when you run it, the pump part shoots pressurized water up into the threaded holes much to the motor's detriment.

If the thing fails again, I think I am going with a West Marine brand
which I believe has a 3 year warranty (correct me if I am wrong).

When I was going thru this problem of pumps from the expensive to the not-so, someone (I think Coastal Outfitters) mentioned that saltwater will kill them all, so go with the West Marine cheapy w/ warranty and take back every 11 months. (As a matter of fact, I'm due for an exchange)

We went thru 2 pumps a year with the less expensive versions. ($150.00-$200.00) Then got the Groco mentioned above. It was in the boat for 2 years and worked when we sold her. The motor is separate from the pump, so no seal to blow and trash the elec. motor. It would shoot water the length of the boat-31'. It was only $350-400.00 and that was shipped. Look online for them, we got it out of Galveston? I cant remember. It also came all mounted on this neat piece of starboard, easy to install. As you can read I was really impressed with it, and tired of loosing the washdown pump when we needed it. Good LUck

Jabsco Par Max 8

Tom look at the Jabsco Par Max 8 High Capacity Washdown Pump.

It provides 7.5 gpm at 80 psi. It's like having a small fire hose on board.

" AND BONUS " I'll Buy it and install it in trade for a place on the next trip to the East Flower Gardens!!!! LOL
