I AM LEAVING FOR SPI WEDNESDAY FOR 8 DAYS. WE WON'T HAVE A BOAT WITH US, SO I AM LOOKING FOR SOME PLACES TO WALK IN AND WADE......THANKS.

i would fish the surf or jetties. the jetties is on the south side and the better surf spots or way north past the last beach access, which may be 6. if you go far enough north there is a shrimp boat that is partially exposed. or it use to be there anyway

I HAVE SPECT ALOT OF TIME SURFING THERE AND OVER AT BOCA CHICA BUT NEVER WENT NORTH. BRINGING THE BIG RODS TOO MAYBE TANGLE WITH SOME TEETH AT NIGHT.

I've had some success wading the shoreline directly behind the walmart in port isabel. There are a few places you can pull up and park and just wade strait out, its shallow first 100 yds, then theres a lil drop off. Might be a good spot to at least check out. Also, as stated earlier, the jetties there right now should offer a mixed back of trout reds and possibly even a few big fish, just depends on weather and if its rough or not. Those jetties at first light can hold alot of quality fish. And down the island some there are several areas u can wade that offer some good sight fishing if wind isnt bad, just walk and cover ground looking for nervous bait.

As you are heading toward the island, just after you get into Port Isabel, on the left is a small comerical gas type station. One of those that is unattented but you can use a commerical card to fill up. Anyway, it is just after Van Buren Street (on the right) to your left just before Michigan street (on your left). You can park in that area and walk out and wade fish that area.

Look at google maps and you will see the area. Use the satellite view. I have not been there in two years, but back then you could park there less than 20 yards from the bay and walk out.

hey the boca chica jetties are good for flounder reds some trout some spanish makeral and few kings and its getting better.
saw a few rolling tarpon also.
