Beaumont Health officials say, recent elevated bacteria levels in Jefferson County likely led to this year`s first case of flesh eating bacteria. The Beaumont Health department reported this week that a man was fishing on a Jefferson County beach when he was infected with Vibrio Vulnificus. This type of flesh eating bacteria grows in warm murky waters. Authorities say, a person can get it by going in infected water or by eating uncooked oysters. This concerns one beach lover. "It`s kind of scary..like you said about flesh eating bacteria...you don`t really know it`s eating away at you. Before you know it you can get sick," said 12 year old Zaynab Salehpour. Symptoms like vomiting and red blisters begin to appear in one to seven days. Those symptoms can be treated with antibiotics.
