And when I just opened the front door to let my doggy out a wind gust grabbed
the door and yanked me right into the yard.

Hey, my pals here can do me a favor. I've been trying to get Eric to come home from
work. He's in downtown Miami so it's not so windy there. I'm alone and don't want
him to know that I really AM scared. The hurricane has such a tight eye it's only
3 1/2 miles across. THAT is a very strong hurricane. The news said it's close to
landfall now.

What's the favor. Send Eric an email and suggest to him that he go home. Here's
his email address:

Bet I'll get a phone call if you do!

update lakeland fla

Just got a call from my sister and they stayed at home....at least I know where she is.
The storm is just starting to pound them and she said the wind really picked up in the last few minuts and the rain is starting to blow sidways.
she is putting the kids in the bathroom ....because they are driving her crazy...I told her to thow them some apple juice and the gameboy to keep them quiet...at least she still has a sence of humor at this point
She still feels safe and everything was still ok.
Keep everyone in your prayers that are in harms way

Thanks for the encouraging emails. I couldn't leave work early until our supervisors went around telling people to leave about 5:20. Then, I did.

But Miami hasn't been in any danger from Charlie. The Miami radar image here shows we're well outside the danger area. Only a few wind gusts, and minimal wind. No rain today at all. I pray my brother and his family in Lakeland will do well.

As usual, it's headed toward the Carolinas. You'v all seen the forecast track, but if you haven't, see it at http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/ftp/graphics/AT03/refresh/AL0304W+GIF/132116W.gif

Keep an eye out and don't get caught fishing in wild wind.
