About four 777 fuel loads for a Houston to Europe flight...yes weight saved adds up

 

Maybe they should pay their flight crew to lose some weight.

 

If 11 pounds per flight means that much, then yes. (Maybe require everyone to pee and poop before boarding plane?)

 

Article says they dropped 11 lbs per plane.

I'm not sure their overall statistics are quite that accurate/precise...but it looks good in the news.

 

That's $1.73 savings....every little bit helps.

I always save them money on my flights because they never seem to get my bag on the plane.

 

Just wait until they start charging you based on your weight. I'm envisioning scales at the ticket counter and your online ticket price will go up or down based on your weight. Airport restaurants will go out of business.

 

Yes, and coin operated bathrooms will make a comeback.

 

I recall American Airlines choosing to leave their planes largely unpainted for the same reason. Saved them way more than a few pounds of magazines.

 

Weight equals fuel burn. Every once helps. That's the main reason for the scimitar winglets you're seeing on the jets. They decrease drag which also equals less fuel burn. Fuel is then single biggest expense of any airline.
