I just picked up a new U.S. Reel 230 spinner yesterday. I was wondering if anyone has one or has heard any feedback/reviews of them. gb

I just bought a 230sx from Marburger's, I had been admiring them since they came out. I loaded it with about 250 yards of 30lb braid and put it on a 7' medium action St. Croix rod. Haven't caught any fish on it yet but sure love the way it casts and it's overall weight and balance.

I wish I could work topwaters with it, that's a skill I haven't picked up yet.

I am mainly a baitcast reel user but find spinning gear superior in some sight-fishing situations... therefore I have one along on most trips. I picked up a US Reel 230sx when they first appeared last fall and have had great success thus far. Friends in the retail end of the fishing business report very low return rate on this reel... a reliable indicator of solid engineering, quality materials and good workmanship.

The large diameter spool and line pick-up system produce far less line twist than other designs. Being able to gather line quickly between strike and hookset is another attractive feature of this reel.

I too have one and have been happy with it. I will put it to a true test Salmon fishing next month.

I ordered one off ebay last week (230 XL) for $57.00 and I can't wait to use it! I'll let everyone know how well it works.

Excellent reel. I took it to Sabine this weekend, and it performed flawlessly.

I have used mine numerous times and LOVE it....have it on a shimano calcutta rod..do be careful on the windy days due to wind knots
