I was walking the foster pup out front tonight when luckily I saw this one before I walked into the web.



I am sure it is one of those super eco-friendly mosquito-eating happy spiders, but I would just as soon not be wearing it on my face.

Those of you who have struggled with autofocus in the dark understand that I had lots of takes and one (or maybe two) sort-of keepers. Not sure I have the nerve to try a macro on this one in the dark. Or the light.

Looks like just a grass spider, Agelenopsis naevia. But what do I know?

how big is it Charles?

i like webs (though not so much when i walk into them), but prefer to give spiders their own space.

Oh man I know what you mean......I can't handle it when I walk through their web.....makes my skin crawl....

Probably not as big as it looked, but the body was ~1/2 inch or more and legs and all it looked 1-1/2 - 2 inches. I could be wrong.

It was not gigantic but definitely too big to find on your face by accident.

Of course it has since relocated, and last night whenever I took one of the dogs out they dragged me through a new spider web.
