Good news!

I have a question for those that go offshore and I haven't checked a radar for the gulf. Did they need to come back in? Is there a hurricane out there or could they have worked around the rains being that far out? Are the storms we are having that large and extend offshore enough to force a boat to come back into the storms to dock?

some of the worst weather I have been in was a squall from thunderstorms. By far the worst weather in the Gulf (except hurricanes) comes when a blue norther blows in. I have been in honest 18 foot seas in those. The good thing about squalls is that they usually are very fast moving, but the bad thing is you can't see a thing and the lightning.

The plan was for them to be in today anyway. They were in 4-6's with an occassional 8 tossed in for good measure, since last night. So, they headed back early. I sure as hell wouldn't stick around in seas like that. Coming in was the right move.

Fun while it lasted

Yeah Jack,

We did have a good time. But I got to tell ya, those 4-6 ft rollers were nothing to the beating I took from FC for not calling sooner. LOL

(she's gonna box my ears for that one)

Yeah, I know. I pretty much (explicative deleted) up. Things will definitely be a lot different in the future. Float plans are just one of the things.

Who was it that said: "Experience in the best teacher, but only a fool choses to learn from her." ?

Or this one I just found from Will Rogers, "The trouble with using experience as your guide is that sometimes the final exam comes first, then the lesson."

Can I get an Amen

great

glad ya'll made it back in ok. This time of year it seems these things pop up quick and can get nasty. When I woke up today it was sunny(1:00pm) and 30 minutes later when I left it was dark and boomin. Came out of nowhere. Glad everything worked out ok. One of these days Ill get an invite to go out to the blue. Until then Ill just live my dreams through you guys. Nice fish Mike

isn't that what the POC gathering is for? newbies, to get a chance to go offshore?

Not for me, I wanna be able to see land, and know which direction to swim, in case of an emergency.....lol

Mikel said the two boats split up and he doesn't know when the other guys got in. Let us know when you hear how they did.
