What a beautiful and thoughtful post Drumbo!

When Dad drove Mom and I to Washington in the late 30's we visited the National Cemetary.

At the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier the visitors remained very hushed and almost motionless. I remember that my Mom cried.

I remember that the guard was something to behold.

His eyes were always looking straight ahead. It was as though he was totally unaware of the presence of anyone other than himself and the tomb he was gaurding. Not one step changed in the path he walked. The only sound you heard was when he moved his rifle from one shoulder to the other.

This is something I'll never forget!
