to spend a few days after Thanksgiving...any suggestions on what to do? It's our first trip. We are flying to Nashville, but I rented a car and plan to drive east and our hotel is in Pigeon Forge. Of course, we plan to hit a few trails in the Smoky Mtn Forrest...any other suggestions (and yes, i do intend to go to Dollywood--hideous, i know)...

I agree with Capt David, lots to do in Gatlinburg. Dollywood area is a very busy area this time of year. If there is ice on the roads, good luck. Drop down to Cherokee, NC and go to the casino. That way you'll get to see a bunch of the SMNP on the way there. :clover:

Go look around the Opryland Hotel in Nashville. It is something to see especially with their Christmas decorations. They have indoor rivers with boats, waterfalls, trails thru gardens, performers, etc. etc.

Little bit of a drive from PF but Chattanooga has some nice sightseeing, everything from the TN aquarium (which Gatlinburh has one too now from what I heard) to Lookout Mtn and several sites if you are into civil war history.

The first thing I would do is to hold on to your camera, or don't take pictures you want the world to see. Just saw a slew of honeymoon pictures from some couple who lost their camera and it was not pretty, she was hot, but I kinda felt sorry for them. So, lesson learned, turn the camera off un-less you would approve the world to seeing oit all lol!. Have fun.
