Just thought a good way to pass the time would be to do a little Texas Coast reading. Does anyone have any recommendations for books on the subject worth checking out?

Fishing Magic The Texas Coast by Roland Carroll, kind of like a good summary of the texas coast from land cut to galveston

for more technique oriented books, kevin cochrans are all good, my favorite is Productive places and patterns

not fishing but texas coast related : Texas Treasure Coast, just a great book about all the shipwrecks and lost treasure on the texas coast

Two books that I highly recommend are : Plugger-Wade Fishing the Gulf Coast available at Amazon; World Class Texas Trout Tomorrow With Best Of The Best Fishers by L. Scott Murray thru topwaterpublishing.com. This book is full of great fishing stories, pictures, and great information ,about Texas trout.

Historical Books:
The Gulf: The Making of an American Sea
Aransas: The Life of a Texas Coastal County
Texas Gulf Coast Stories
Texas Forgotten Ports
Indianola: The Mother of Western Texas
Life on Matagorda Island

Others have already listed great reference books, but I'll add A.C. Becker as well.

thanks! this should be enough to keep me occupied for a while. Just got Fishing Magic in the mail yesterday and I have a few more on the way. I am looking forward to learning more about the coast. The historical books really sound interesting. It's funny to think about the things that we take to be facts just because it was taught to us by our fathers and other people we respect, then come to find out those "facts" aren't quite as factual as they may have seemed.
