Just got a swimming pool/spa put in and was told I need to upgrade my gas meter.There is not enough gas flow to keep heater lit.I just need a little input on this so i'm ejumacated on the subject.Thanks.

Standard gas meter and pressure valve just wont work for a spa...the heater has has a safety that will not let it come on without the needed gas flow...call the gas company and they will set you up...I think I paid $140.00 for the upgrade a few years back...just no way around it

the supply line to the meter is often not large enough for the requisite flow, hopefully you will not need a larger line, that would cost somewhat more.

When I had my spa/pool installed they replaced the gas line not the meter (in my situation that is). Already stated, more significant $$$.

I had my pool/hot tub put in 2 years and the pool company ran a 2" line from the meter to the heater but the gas company had to come out and put in a bigger meter at a cost of $250 i think.

It cost me $300 in Jan '06 & the centerpoint lady blamed it on the pool company not using a big enough line, pool company said it was the meter. Then when the centerpoint guy put in a new meter & didn't tighten it enough so it leaked they blamed the pool guy again. Just a continuous circle of blame but that spa sure felt good on those cold winter nights.

The line is the line from the meter to the heater?
$300 for a new meter,$50 for this,$100 for that.Glad I went saltwater.I can fill it with trout and reds and never leave the house.

Just put a pool in this spring. They had to put a bigger meter in at $350.00. Ouch!!!!

You guys are sumpin else. Ya' got a $30-40K pool, with heater & gripping 'bout another $400 to get enuff gas to the heater.
I bet ya' just go a new Gizmo reel and super graphite/titanium/magnesium platinum coated rod.
