Hi all,

I have a 1989 DT55 that suddenly developed a problem. I went to start it Friday morning and nothing happened when I turned the key. The power trim/tilt also did not work. I looked at the fuses under the cover and the battery fuse was blown so I replaced that. Now, when I try and start or use PTT there is a clicking sound, much like when your car battery is dead and you try to start your vehicle.

I have verified that the battery is good and fully charged. I am a little stumped since this problem seems to involve both the starting and PTT systems and cannot find anything in my manual that connects the two systems.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Ok, I found it...turned out to be a short in the battery cable. What was strange was that my gauge still lit up, and I had 12.65 volts at the starter relay, but the wire could not handle any load.
