I am heading with a group to Port Mansfield this weekend. Just wondering if there are any regulars that wouldn't mind offering suggestions as to the hot baits as of late. I was planning on chunking topwaters and plastics and productive colors would be helpful.

Thanks in advance.

Hook'em

I was down about 3 weeks ago. We did best on avocado assassins and jalapeno & mardi gras sandeels. Other boat with us did well with pearl/red assassins.

These were working on Reds and Trout.

Threw some topwaters and corkys, but did not have too much luck with them.

Good luck.

The pass is overloaded with bait, so anything that looks like a mullet seemed to work better. Dark color soft baits were better than light colors. Water had heavy silt content due to the winds; visibility was 5-6 ft. Top waters had several blow ups but didn't hook any. Tried tying a small grub tail 2' behind a top water and caught several dink trout. Every fish caught was full of mullet.
Make sure to give us a report when you get back.
good luck
