My wife and I took a day (Thursday, July 22nd) and drove to Port O'Connor from SA---first time visit for her. A storm blew in about 9 am or so and it looked really bad. It came with lightning, thunder, and rain. I took a few pictures at the grocery store @ 185 and next to Kingfisher beach. Really impressive clouds--I think they were cumulo mammatus, indicators of strong instability. The storms came through for a couple of hours and then kind of skirted to the west. I didn't think there was much other than fishing in POC, but she managed to find some places to shop, LOL. It's my favorite place to fish.

Storm Clouds

Awesome pics. In the first picture if you look past the
pumps the house behind the motts(trees) with the big
lookout used to be my uncles house. They rode out
Hurricane Carla in it and rode all the way to those trees
during the height of the storm. Reader's Digest 1961
edition I think. "Hurricane Coming, Get out or Drown"
really interesting story.

Those clouds were the most unusual I have ever seen. Dad and I just did make it back to the Fishing Center to load up when they rolled in. At least they cooled things down for a while.
