I am about to install a stereo in the boat. I am looking for advice on speaker placement. I will be running 4 6.5 and 1 10 inch free air sub. Like to see some options if you wouldn't mind posting pics. I know I want 2 speakers up front not really wanting to install in console but not opposed. I know there are some gurus on here and help and advice is greatly appreciated
It's going in a 14 25 ft majek extreme

That boat is not a liner boat I'm pretty sure. So that limits options as far as firing at the console from the gunnel. The console firing out is ok, but just ok. I installed 2 8" RF in the front and two in the back, all firing at the console. It sounds great at rest or low speed but you lose the rears as the speed comes up. Not sure if you have considered all four in the front firing back at the console, but I have seen some done this way and it seems to look good. Another challenge with installing in the back is compromising the integrity of those compartments. There are ways around it so that you regain the use of those compartments, just a little more work.

Here is how I did mine

I rigged my 2014 25 Extreme with two 8" full range and a single 10" sub in the front gunnel and two additional 8" full range in the real gunnel. Space the sixes away from the sub if you are going to run it free air or the back pressure will max them out. We ended up basically boxing them out, which also protected them from anything bouncing around in the front cargo box.

We used starboard and I sealed it off with clear silicone. If I needed to access the wiring I could. With 6 1/2" speakers, you could isolate them with XTC foam baffles or buy the fiberglass ones Kevin Shaw makes at FiberTex in Corpus Christi. The only picture I have of the rear gunnel that shows the speakers is shot from a distance, but you can see how they were mounted. Those are 8", so 6 1/2" should be no problem. I actually still have the speakers and amp from the original setup.

You could clearly hear the music at top speed (60+). I ran a 5 channel amp. My background was in car audio, so after experimenting with speaker placement I found those locations sounded best. Side of the console high was worst, followed by low on the console, which would reflect some sound off the gunnel. Depending on your console cutout, you can mount 6" speakers on the console facing you and they sounded good without an amp for the driver and passenger. I usually tuned the rear speakers a little lower than the front to keep the sound balanced.

Yellowskeeter, thanks for the compliment. I loved that boat, but my tourney partner and I both had 25 Xtremes when I moved up here and we needed ( ok wanted) an extreme shallow water boat with some extra height for reds. Hated to sell it, but I am in the process of building out a new 25 Illusion. Our last tower had two Wetsounds 8" in the front gunnel and two 6 " on the console with no sub and an HT amp and it sounded great too. Not quite as loud, but the tower was also not a 60+ mph boat.

Setup will be similar, just haven't decided between using Kicker, Rockford, or Wetsounds. We got to play with the new Wetsounds Sinister 6 channel amp, a WS enclosed sub, and four 8" at the boat show. It was VERY loud and VERY clear. The headroom was noticeable versus their HT series amps in another boat in a nearby booth. Also got to play with the new Rockford head unit, the range on the Bluetooth was awesome. Could walk from one side of the show barn to the other without losing sound.

I will recommend to anyone doing more than a deck and two, use a good shop for the install, i.e. G-Spot in Spring, Car Tunes in League City, or Competition Sounds in Corpus Christi. The riggers could cut the holes and mount the amp, but they couldn't tune it, or trouble shoot it. Nothing bad on them , just wasn't their specialty.

Under the center console

We did a large piece of starboard under the console, up against the live well. Amp, Pro Air pump, and battery chargers were mounted for display. Batteries were mounted just in front of them. If I can find a better pic, I'll post it.
