According to a TPWD release issued Friday, South Zone duck hunters will enjoy a one-week kickoff of their regular season from Sept. 27-Oct. 3 — immediately following this year's 9-day teal season (Sept. 18-26). The remainder of the South Zone duck season runs Nov. 13-Jan. 18. Pintails and canvasbacks will be fair game only from Dec. 11 through the end of the regular season, and the youth-only season in the South Zone is set for Oct. 30-31.

There usually aren't great numbers of ducks on the marsh during the usual late Oct./early Nov. opener. What's the point of a week-long regular season in late Sept./early Oct.?

i think it is just a way to give us an extra week of teal season that they cant offically do because of the numbers this year.
