Shot on my front porch. the golden finches here in the Frozen North seem more brightly colored than in Houston...

The Sony H5 was returned from repair yesterday for the second time. The same half-focus-button crapped out after just a few hundred pictures.... taken after the first repair! I hope this fix sticks. I love the way this camera shoots...regards, Rich

Well, according to the dpreview Sony forum, the Sony H5 was plagued with a limited number--but consistent-- problem.

When you go to "half-button" push to hold your focus....it would slip right on by and simply take the picture. If you have the problem.... you will know it.

The lucky thing is that the issue only affected a small number of cameras. It appeared that a certain run got stuck ( I'm speculating here) with some bad little button/switches.

My first error appeared after over 5000 shots... Sending it to Sony bought it back, fixed free-of-charge, in one week. But, the second failure occurred after only a few hundred shots. I'm hoping this fix lasts!

I bought my Canon S3 Ultra-Zoom because the first Sony problem came up one week before I went off to Egypt; Turkey; Greece etc. So, now I have two neat Ultra-Zoom P& S cameras. Both work wonders for me...yet each is different. I'd like to combine the best qualities of both cameras...

regards, rich
