FYI....My son had a couple of 4-H pigs.One did not make the sale.......feed it out w/ corn for about a month before sending to the butcher.Todays show pigs are very lean and muscular.NOT much bacon ! LOL..

Brazoria county fair show,pig wieghs 255 to 260 been acouple days sense on the scales .

Good luck in the show deano5x. My boy does'nt show anymore but my 8 1/2 yr old daughter shows Commercial Heifers from my Brother-in-Laws place.Good times for sure watching the youth shine w/ their animals.

Speaking of blasting a hog.When our pig did'nt make the sale, I had the kids join in on the process of killing and skinning the pig while explaining to them that these animals are not pets.They are raised to be butcherd to feed us.They took it pretty well during the process.They also learned what a little ole 22 bullet can do !Maybe some may feel that that is a little harsh to have kids see and do....BUT........that is the real world.
