Snapper Slappers

Rockfish I had that happen to three of snapper slappers this weekend. I ended up using a 6" 80lb wire leader wrapped around the main eye to replace the "stinger". I do not like having to do that to a ten dollar lure. Does the manufacturer know of this problem?

The problem I had this weekend was the eye screwed into the back of the jig actually pulled out of the lead. The wire or crimp I can deal with but the point of fastening is a different story. these were on the 8 oz models.
