Great place

We took a field trip (TAMUCC fisheries biology) to the spoonbill lodge and went out on a oyster lugger from jerry's seafood - toured the factory and learned how they harvest oysters. It was a great trip the lodge was nice, and their food was great! The only downside was the professor didnt tell us to bring fishing rods and we had to make handlines and fish off the pier, but we still caught some flatties. Jason Slocum

Good Lawd, what kind of info did you think he wanted? We just had a major hurricane and you have to be a smart arse.

Galvbay, my Dad heard on the radio that everywhere from Double Bayou to Smith Point was completely leveled. I'm truly sorry for your loss. I loved to spend time fishing that side of the bay.

Thank you for the info....I'm crossing my fingers that everyone made it out ok and there is something to go back to. If anyone hears/knows anything about the POST HURRICANE IMPACT on the Smith Point area..please pm or post up. We are looking for info on Spoonbill RV park, Jerri's Seafood, Cpt. Jimmy's shrimp boat...thanks again. gb

have not seen with my own eyes, but word is it is leveled. Stuff from Oak Island and Smith Point is washing up in Anahuac.

A friend of mine made it to Oak Island and said it was devastated. His house was completely gone - nothing but the slab. From what I heard it doesn't look good for Smith Point either. Did you pull your camper out?? Sorry I don't have any more specific info for you. Take care.

I talked to a friend of mine that had a place right out on the front at smiths point by the pier and he said a friend of his or one of the other land owners somehow made it in there and told him he had no house left only the columns.

My friend is still pretty upbeat about it all as they had insurance and whatnot. He told me we still had a boat ramp to go fishing so I guess he is keeping the right attitude about it all.
