It sounds like you are smelling ozone, which is generated by lightning flowing through wet air. One thing is for sure, it's kicking up west of here, right now. Hang on.

You must be north or west of Houston.
I'm in Kingwood and having a shower just in front of the storm. Looks like everyone may get some rain tonight. Coming from the west for us north of I-10 and from the coast for south of I-10. Could be interesting when they meet, but the local news has not posted warnings, so probably just some lighting and rain.

Mont, I never knew that about the lightning and ozone. Pretty cool. I do know this front is predicted to have lightening, so you are probably correct.

If you haven't been out tonight, go take a peek, watch it come in, and smell that smell.

Hey Essayons and Mont, the rain just hit me and it does not smell like ozone. It smells like musty, moldy dust.
Yuk.
Yes, like fresh rain on a dirt road! Musty, moldy dust...yummy! We can't all sniff fresh seawater every morning, let us enjoy...pinch your nose. :doowapsta
