Austin looks to convert Walter E Long to "off channel storage". Water levels could fall 25 feet. This would take the power plant offline. Also, with no real bottom structure, such a drastic drop would decimate bass, gills, crappie and other fish assemblages. Rather than address water use issues the city seeks to just bandage the the issue with a very temporary fix. Below is the article by the Austin fox affiliate (not pro fisherman) and a petition. I did not write the petition, but my wife and I love this lake and felt the need to share.

Thanks,
Andy

Awesome. I see they are looking to tap the ground water where Manor gets our municipal water. The City of Manor is currently in stage 1 water restrictions, and are telling citizens we have no need to ration, and our water supply is "just fine". If Austin gets rights to that water it will be a different story.
