I got to the water around 11 and was off by 130. I was catching nothing but 16 inch flounder so I was tossing them back looking for the big girls. I was fishing a single jig 1/8oz. with a TTF Killer Flats Minnow glow/chart. I was targeting the spoil banks fishing just on the edge of them. A boat rolled up on me and started fishing right next to me and he kept getting hung up so I asked him if he had any fish and he told me he hadn't caught anything all day so I proceeded to catch my nice 20 inch fish and gave him one of my fish that was around 18. I came away with 1 flounder at 20 and the other 21 1/2"

Sounds like a nice day on the water** Just for arguments sake, If you came away with a 21 1/2 and a 20 and you gave away an 18", doesn't that add up to three fish?? Or did you toss one of your 20 and 21 1/2 back into the brine? Or pehaps they were not all flounder **although your post makes it sound like they were all flounder and this is November**** 2 fish limit** sorry if I'm out of line here**

Interesting that with over 200 views, only two comments on this thread. I would have guessed that regulars would be all over this one. Maybe not many know that November is a 2 flounder limit month. I'm sure that Srimptail Hunter was not aware of it. Read those regs gents. FF

Think about what you are posting, then read the thread about fishing with someone who keeps illegal fish. I'm sure Shrimptail was not aware of what he did. I am also sure, that after reading these comments, he is well aware and won't make that mistake again. This board is to keep others informed. I feel that is what I have done. SoRry if you take it differently.

He had a 21.5" and an 18" which is two. He landed a 20"er and decided to be nice and give his 18" to the guy in the boat in order to keep the 20"er.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but that sounds legal enough to me. He ended up with only 2 in his possession.

I have been a resident of Aransas Pass for 7 years. Just so happens that I also have a house in California. I pay property taxes up the wazoo in Texas. So what else is your problem??

Hey, Bud light. You better read your regs before you take our pole out again. Giving one away still adds to your 2 fish limit. You can then only keep one more. With your logic, I would be able to catch and give away all the fish I want to as long as I only keep two. Explain that one to the GW

I'm not sure what you mean by that. What does any rule accomplish? November is a two flounder limit. Period. Weather you keep two fish of feed them both to hungry cats, two fish is two fish. This is the first year for that reg. On that note, I go to the local boat ramps most evenings to catch mangrove snapper. Tonight, I tell my neighbor that I have been catching MS and he tells me that there is now an 8" size limit on them. I had no idea because I never bothered to check the regs, purely because the new reg. was never brought to my attention .Someone told, now I know. I won't make that mistake again. I did not call my neighbor a junior game warden. I thanked him for keeping me informed.

Most rules and regulations have reasons for existing, or they shouldn't exist. I'm asking if anyone might know of a legitimate purpose for this regulation's existence that I may be overlooking.

Basically, I'm trying to educate myself, not trying to be a smart-arse here.

Not trying to make you out as a SA. Sorry if you took it that way. Flounder regs now 5 fish from 10. November is a two fish limit. No gigging in November. Reason is to bring up the population of flounder. Not a very popular reg amongst commercial fisherman. But ,rules are rules.

To 007.
This is not a gripe. Just a disscussion. This is the general fishing dissussion board. I am generally disscussing about keeping more than a limit. And take a closer look at item #8. OK. I'm done here. Adios all. FF

I understand the 2 flounder in Nov. reg. and why its there.

I just assumed that it was a possesion reg and not a number caught. Or better yet, that you posses the fish even if you give it to someone else who has a valid fishing license to keep your possession at 2.

That's what I get for assuming.

That is why this website is so valuable. Every now and then we might learn something that might keep us from getting nailed by the GW and going to poor house after paying the fines. Tight lines and good night to all. FF
