Chronarch 100SF

I have had my Chronarch 100SF for 5 years and it is the best reel I have ever owned. I don't know anything about the Metanium, but it better be pretty good to compare with the Chronarch. Keep it clean and maintained and it will last many years. Hope this helps.

A metanium is japan's version of the chronarch. it's suppose to be just as good or better. I think the chronarch 1000 was a mis print
But if Shimano DID make a Chronarch 1000sf, I bet ti would be an AJ catchin son of a gun..... LOL

The Metanium is the Japanese version of the Chronarch. The is one that's the same as the standard Chronarch, one like the SF, and one very light one (Metanium Mg) that is comparable to the Chronarch Mg. About the only difference is that the Japanese market reels have a shorter handle. Most shops will not work on the Japanese market reels. I heard that Shimano USA recently changed their long time policy and they are now working on them. You might give them a call to confirm.

Japan Shimano

I just bought a Japan version of the Shimano Curado 100B. It is called the Scorpion 1000 MG. It weighs 6.2 Oz. it has the super free pinion gear and anti-rust bearings. Also, a 16 point adjustment on the cast control. Adjust the casting weights without opening up the reel. I ordered it from Specialty tackle.com it cost about $50 less than the Shimano chronarch mg.
