I have a Shearwater 2200 coastal. I am not familiar with Blazer like I am Shearwaters, Pathfinders, and Blue Waves, but I can say that the Shearwater is about as dry as the Pathfinder and a 22 Classic Blue Wave, maybe just a touch less. In any case, it would be really hard to measure. I spend about as much time in Pathfinders and Blue Waves as I do my own boat. I am also not familiar with the extreme, but the way those things sit so low in the water, you will never convince me that the extreme is a drier ride than the Shearwater....it just can't be. Then again, I think if the chop reaches a certain height, any bay boat is going to let the water in, that's just the way it is.
The rest of the performance and other characteristics of the Shearwater are better, IMO, as compared to the others boats mentioned here. I am not saying that because I own one; I am saying that because that's what I really believe. The finish and the layout of the Majek takes it out of the running, IMO, as compared to the others mentioned here, it's just not in the same class -- (really the pathfinder is the only boat that compares). They all draft about the same and all get up at the same depth, so that's a wash. The Shearwater is particularly nimble as compared to PF and BW's and will hop up onto plane in less time and at less speed (it's like, sick ... 20ft at 10mph)....can't talk about the performance of the Majek or the Blazer (which is a copy of a pathfinder, so can't be that much different than a PF), but would venture to guess the Shearwater performs as good or better.
Another factor that might be of use to you in making your decision, at least it was for me, is the resale value...I think the resale value on a boat like a Shearwater is going to be a bit higher than a majek or a blue wave and even better than a pathfinder. The boats enjoy a reputation for outstanding quality and, unlike even pathfinder, there aren't a lot of them out there. Part of that is the warranty and the way Shearwater backs their product. The continuing service from Shearwater is matched by few other companies.
Feel free to pm me if you have any other questions.
The other boat you might want to look at is the Lake and Bay 22 ft. It's up there with the Shearwater and the Pathfinder.
