We were about 6 miles off the coast of Galveston a couple of weeks ago and observed a shark, pretty good size, at least 8-foot or more with a good girth on it. What bothered me and my fishing buddies, is that we couldn't identify it. What was strange is, the dorsel and tail fins were all black and the body had a reddish-bronze color to him. There were two of them swimming around the boat. Can anyone, please help us identify them. I have exhausted my sources!
Thank you---Norface

You might try and post your question on the shark board and see if you get any hits.

I'm pretty sure 8 feet was a guess also. You know how fishermen are.:p They also match his color and do look like sharks to many people.

No, it wasn't a ling. I have caught plenty of ling in my day, and it was a shark. I talked to friend of mine, down in Rockport and he said it was a tiger. This summer they have spotted tigers near shore, down there. Thank you all for your imput.--Norface
