Hello All!

I've been researching for a shallow water anchor. Unfortunately, an automated Power Pole is not yet in my budget. So, I've been looking at manual models. The Stayput Shallow Water Anchor is the best looking product I've seen so far. Anyone have any experience with these? Anyone have one or a competitor's version? Any input is greatly appreciated.

Made my own stake out pole from 3/4" fiberglass tree stake and added a PVC "T" handle and lanyard. Bought a PVC valve to use as a stake out pole anchor for yak. Simple turn of handle locks it in place or lets it drop to the bottom. Added 1" PVC and coupler to bottom of valve to stick in scupper holes adn added some tape to dampen the noise and make a tight fit. Works great!..

Just get a Stick It pole and a short piece of rope. That's all you need. Save your money on the mount. I've been using just the pole and a short, 3 ft. bungee rope from academy for over a year on my 18ft. cc and it's worked flawlessly. Even in high wind its held and I've even pushed it down in water that was deeper than it was and it held. I have a bouy tied to mine just in case it ever lets loose. lol. The bungee line from academy comes with a loop on each end that you can cinch down, so I run one end thru the pole and the other end I attach to one of my cleats. I think it advertises as a "kayak docking rope" but I'm not sure. My Stick It pole is the kayak size also (bought used) but have been using it for my boat and works great. It's a smaller diameter and only 6ft.

They work great ... in mud or soft bottom. If you want to anchor up on sand or shell, forget it ... I have one and it works great in mud or soft bottom only ...
