Having a problem with my Sea Star hydraulic steering system and wanted to see if anyone here knew what the problem could be.

The outboard is turned all the way to the right. When i turn the wheel to the left it turns freely, but there is no reponse from the outboard. I can turn and turn and turn, and still nothing. But as soon as i attempt to turn the wheel to the right it does not turn.

Any ideas???

Possibly low/no fluid or seals shot. Have you checked the fluid level? If you go to the Seastar website they may have some troubleshooting info.

Like Hooked said, ck your fluid and bleed the air out. If still no go might be a valve stuck in the helm.

Before you do anything else, do a bleed and purge on the system. The fluid level could have gotten low enough for it to suck in air. The Teleflex web site has detailed instructions on how to blead a hydraulic steering system.
