What is the BEST way too season a new pit? Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Put some cooking oil of just about any kind in a spray bottle and spray the inside or get crisco or lard on a rag and wipe it down liberally. Build a small fire and let it get to about 200 to 250F and try to maintain it for about four hours.

Enjoy yourself.

1. Go buy some brisket, ribs, and beer. (Don't forget the beer)
2. Wipe or spray the pit down with cooking oil and fire it up.
3. Heat pit for about three hours at 200-250 deg.
4. Give me a call and we will drink the beer and BBQ. (Don't forget to call)

Jdot's idea works to.

Use peanut oil & cake the entire inside of the pit, everywhere you can. Also lay as much bacon as you can over the grill & bring up the temp to about 225 for several hours. I did mine for 4 hours....
