Me and some friends got a condo down by San Luis Pass. I was looking for input on fishing down there...where to try? Techniques, bait, etc. I heard San Luis Pass Pier was a good spot, but wanted to check here. I also thought about maybe surf fishing? What cha think?

See thread " is there realt such a thing as redfish". South shoreline tips on there in my post. Might be of some help. SLP flats is my main bay location. Enjoy, and be ready for about anything near the pass.Currents can move fast, so use caution. And dont worry if the water is off color; wind and tides can stir up the shallow sandy bottom. The fish are used to it.

Hurricane Ike destroyed the pier. Fish the bay side behind the toll both. Good luck....

Another SLP Drowning

Picking up on an older thread... First of all I'm sad for the family that just lost the Dad who trying to rescue his 5-yr old kid in the pass. The kid was taken by helicopter to UTMB. His condition is unknown at this time. But, the big picture is, what is it about the signs and warnings that make parents put their kids in pass? It happens so much, how could anyone think, the signs are for someone else?

I'm staying down there in 3 wks and will be following this thread. Just going by Google Earth, looks like some nice flats to wade on the bay side? Hoping for a flat surf, but not counting on it.
