Things are beginning to look up for the folks around here, the surf and jetties just went off this week!! The trout were good on a variety of lures from tops to tails and shrimp, you pick 'em because on the right tide and wind combo it doesn't matter. The main lake on Sabine is still tough but there are a few fish being caught on live bait in the rivers and the channels, not a whole bunch going on in the main lake itself. Calcasieu has been much of the same, the jetties and beachfront have been solid, especially early. The main lake is in good shape and getting better each day. There are some birds working but most of the trout are small with an occasional good school full of keepers showing up. The shad are thick, thick, thick and there are some of the better trout following them along with a few reds. The shallow water bite on redfish has also been much better on Calcasieu than Sabine, we have fish all over the estuary and they are solid. The next few weeks look good as long as we don't get another round of gully washing rain. We do have some openings left this month and early August if anyone is interested. Also if you are headed this way and need a little info don't hesitate to e-mail.

Good luck,
Capt. Chuck Uzzle
