Rust on rod guide feet (under epoxy)

I picked up a used Shimano TVC66H Trevala rod and all the guide feet have what I assume is rust on them underneath the epoxy; the eyes all look fine, but not the feet. I tried to clean them with diluted CLR and a tooth brush but no change, so I washed it down with dawn and put it up once dry.

Is there anything I can do to clean/prevent it from getting worse or should be worried about?

Thanks

Filing a SS guide will remove the coating and when (not if) saltwater gets under the epoxy, corrosion will result.
When filing guides, redcoat with fingernail polish if you must file.
Or use titanium guides.
SS quality varies between guide makers. SS will corrode, just slower than steel. Higher grades/better quality SS corrodes less than the cheapest stuff.

Looks like ambering of the finish to me, that said unless the thread fails the guide foot will last as long as you will need it to, like my rod mentioned before near 40 years and counting on black Fuji SV double foots. Like aluminum, the nickel mixed in the stainless will display an oxide coating that may take away from the appearance but also creats a barrier to further damage. What do we use as fasteners, rails, boxes, hinges, etc. on our boats, naval ships, etc.
