Was invited to fish there last weekend by a family friend and we did pretty good. Can't give you much details on where we fished as I'm not familiar with the area and pretty much enjoyed the boat ride on the way out.
We spent most of the weekend wade fishing in about 2-4 foot of water over lots of grass. The reds were more decent the shallower we went and the trout seemed to hang out in the deeper water. The water was very sweet with tons of freshwater apparent even a dark red color in some areas.
Topwater bait for the trout and gold spoons for reds seemed to be the key in the morning. Bekley Gulp Jerk Shad seemed to be the trick in the afternoon/evenings.
We landed 4 red keepers and 7 trout keepers over two morning trips and one afternoon trip. Threw back at least that many undersized fish.
Upper Laguna Madre south of Corpus to the Land Cut produced 50-60 trout on Saturday. Mostly under sized. Ended up with 4 keepers, but busted off 3-4 nice ones. Trout were in 2-3 feet early and 4-5 feet later in the day. Left out of Bluff's Landing at 6:30 am with the running lights on, came back ahead of a big thunderstorm about 4:30-5:00pm.
