I apologize now for the **** you will have to wade through on this forum from time to time.
not sure about the pic buy zephyr is the 2cool code for the cool kids when they want to confuse those asking legitimate questions about fishing areas. It doesn't exist . . . . . he's not even attempting to be helpful.
We used to catch them in the lights around the boat docks at night in Port A years ago. Literally free lined a piece of peeled shrimp on very light weight (4 lb) spinning tackle. Throw from the walking dock towards the bulkheads between the boat, thus the light tackle and hooks only to not scratch the boats if your aim is bad. If you can still access that area you'll smoke them if they're biting at the time.
I would think most bait shops would have frozen ones in boxes -- at least that what I saw at the shops in Galveston. They should be about 1 inch wide. The ones shown in "Bin Lee" picture are way to big and prized as food; he would keep them for dinner!
You are a little hard on Mack. I have heard that he has a better fish formula for BUTT juice that What ChickenBoy sells.
He had a new baby and has changed way too many diapers.
I know that it helped him catch that big 30+ inch trout but I do know that if you get the **** on your hands or breath the toxic fumes it does cause memory lose and other problems.
Mac is a joker so just give Mack some flack back but be nice or you go off the board as Mack has found out before.
Bait Bucket in Flour Bluff, and the bait stands under the JFK causeway have them for reasonable prices. The shops on the Humble Channel charge a premium.
Go by the bait shops and ask. They have frozen most of the time, but if you want fresh, they can usually point you toward a bait supplier. You could check the shrimp boats, but most don't keep them. Ask around.
I thought joking around was what fishing is about. Between my dad and uncle, ever trip as a kid was torture and a blast.
I have actually seen it at walmart in the frozen bait section. They only have those frozen bait coolers at certain locations but im almost positive they have frozen ribbonfish
I was just talking about this the other day. Does anyone fish the boathole in CC near the NAS? when I was a kid we would rent a little aluminum boat at the bridge and fish the boathole. That is the only place I've caught ribbonfish on a rod. I haven't thrown bait in over 25 years but we use to catch a ton of them in there on live shrimp.
Port A: woody's, port a outfitters, fisherman's wharf. I'd look in that order.
Padre: Clems is really the only one that seems to always have them and pretty decent. Marker 37 doesn't have much for offshore. Never tried billings but I think they are only open on a full moon when the wind is out of the west... Clems even has whole stingrays for shark. And sometimes Jimi Hendrix is working there!!!
We fished under the causeway in Pt Isabel for trout. We were there one day, next to a guide (Dick Dennis). Every cast he and clients caught a trout, every cast we caught a ribbon. I have never laughed so hard…………….We did freeze them and used for kings-worked! (this was in mid '80's).
