I need to get a repair manual so I can try to do some things on my motor when I have trouble instead of paying for something simple. I think there's a link called repairmanuals.com but I have another question. I need a manual to help me with preventive maintance for a boat motor so I can avoid some of these problems. Will there be maintance sections in most manuals? I have an '86 johnson 70hp and would like to keep it running good.
thanks

Don't know where you are at, but Northshore Marine has shop manuals for outboards for around $15.00 or at least that is what I paid for one for a 76' Erude. Might look at a dealer for your motor. Mine has maintenance and repair sections. I got one for a 50 Force from Academy also.

Find a Clymer Manual about $26 you can rebuild an engine are change lower unit lube with it. I had an outboard repair Business for 9 years and had Clymer manuals fotr all makes and models.
Easy to read with step by step pics.
