We are planning on taking a trip to go to the renfest this year. We have gone once or twice before but just did the day trip thing.

We have heard that the way to really go and experience it all is to stay and camp out for the festival as well as deck out in costumes...

Anyone have any tips or experience with it other than just going out for the day?

OK...with two posts like that, I am suspecting it isnt a "family friendly" definition. Can you PM me and explain what you are talking about?

No kids...Just the wife and I. Have heard it gets "wild" but have not heard form many people who have actually experienced the camping out portion.

We go to Burning Man and set up a "camp" to chillout and call home for the 4 days or so we are there...Is this a good thing to do at the ref fest or do you just camp out and go into the fairgrounds?

We dont want to bring a bunch of stuff with us if its not necessary.

i live in plamtersville and worked at the ren fest for alot of my life. and i would NOT recamend taking kids and staying. if ur young and like to party and run around crazy, then staying is just for you. if not then leave by sundown.

There are two seperate campgrounds, one for families and one for adults. The family camp ground is the first one on your right when you first drive in. We're camping Halloween weekend. We go every year.

Bring a fire pit, they don't like campfires in the ground. There was a little store on the campground last year, probably be there this year as well.

You can go in and out of the Festival (they stamp your hand). Secure all
your valuables in your vehicle when you go into the festival...

Its a spinoff of the one in Nevada and its here in Texas every year...Many of the nevada folks go there and yeah, the same crowd.

We were just wondering how things operate and any tips for camping out...

Not too concerned with the crowd, we like da freaks!! LOL!!

Think drunk, unwashed, but real friendly, carneys. Think abandonment of inhibitions (not that there is anything wrong with that). Don't be surprised to be invited for a devil's threesome with your own wife.

Kinda depends on whats on your bucket list as to whether it might be the best time of your life, the creepiest thing you have ever seen, or just some fun somewhere in between.

I actually worked there in the early '80s while going to high school. Weird place after dark. Drunks, dopers, orgies and a whole bunch of other stuff I didn't get involved in..............

Just kidding... really....

Weird place after dark...
