I have been experimenting with removing the ethanol from gas by mixing 1 cup water to 1 gal. gas and shaking vigorously, then pouring the mixture into a coned bottom container and letting it settle for about an hour, then crack open the draincock and removing the ethanol/water mixture from the bottom. You must start with 93 octane because removing the 10 percent ethanol will bump down the octane by 2 to 3 points. I have used it in my 2-stroke dirtbikes and it makes a big difference in starting and all around performance. I also used it in the lawn mower and weed-eater and they run and idle much better. I will be putting some in the boat soon. Has anyone else tried this method yet. It may sound crazy but from what I have seen it really works.

Yes you can add octane back in only use TOLUENE or XYLENE, this is what gas companies already add to their fuel for octane. It does not contain any alcohol. Can be purchased at a sherwin williams paint store.
