When targeting other species of snapper like Lane or Vermilion, do you fish any different then you do for Red Snapper as in deeper water, on the bottom, or near the top? Besides using smaller hooks/bait I was just curious if there's a different technique used when specifically targeting these fish or if they're always caught by accident when fishing for red snapper.

beeliners generally are caught up in the water column on small chunks of squid or sardines (not whole baits, although larger beeliners can take a whole sardine or squid) in water 140-250 ft deep. Lane snapper are generally mixed in with red snapper on shallower structure, and are generally caught right on the bottom. Grey (mangrove) snapper are the toughest to target, they will be on shallow structure and are very line and leader shy.
