I am planning on recarpeting the supports on my trailer. Anyone have any suggestions on where to get the material and what type of screws/nails/staples to use? Any info is greatly appreciated.

Lowes sells marine grade carpet in various colors. You can purchase stainlees steel staples. They are somewhat expensive but worth the money as they will outlast the carpet.

Monel staples are easier to find than stainless, West Marine or Boater's work has them. They are a high nickel alloy that is even better than stainless in that it is not as brittle, which is better for staples.

I have found that a better grade of indoor/outdoor carpet holds up much longer than the bunk carpeting that comes standard. I have also found aluminum nails very good for attaching carpet to bunk boards. Last time I bought aluminum nails they were too long so I just trimmed to length I needed with side cutter pliers.

Put some plastic material made for bunk boards on mine 2 yrs ago.

Very pleased.
Think I got it at Kroll's, but I've seen it other places.

While you're at it...

When you replace the carpet, and maybe once a year thereafter, apply a paste floor wax to the carpet. It's much easier to load and launch your boat when the runners are waxed.
