I hate to take up space on 2cool right now with such an insignificant question with everything my 2cool brothers and sisters are going thorugh in Southeast Texas. I know this has been an invaluable tool for information gathering and distribution, but...

My daughter has been invited to go to a Quincienera this weekend, and will be in the "court" of another one in November. Question is this: Should she bring some sort of gift for the girl(s) whose party it is? I mean is it like a birthday party?

Sorry, I just don't know the protocol for these events.

Thanks for your input and God bless you folks in Houston, Galveston and everywhere that has been affected by the storm.

Gift ok but check out the "party" carefully. Supposed to be a semi-religous celebration, but we finally had to ban them at our church (and we have large Hispanic membership) as the parties we getting way out of hand.

Then your Hispanic membership isn't very erudite. Plans are supposed to be made well in advance on which service is to be held for the event. You aren't supposed to simply show up at mass in your outfits and expect for everyone to fall all over you.

We had a family that did just that, and they didn't even leave an honorarium for the church afterwards.

We'd never seen them before or again.
